Just Because It's Pretty

Just Because It's Pretty: Honey Edition!
I don't know about anyone else, but I love honey. I love the smell of honey, the taste, the pattern of beeswax and honey comb and the moisturizing/ antibacterial benefits it can have for your skin. So, today, I present two honey comb themed items for the Just Because It's Pretty series. (I was going to upload a review, but I left my iphone cord at home, so I can't upload the multitude of pictures I've taken. I'm going to be writing up reviews/posts and posting a bunch when I get the cord back in a week.)

First Up: Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca Eau de Toilette
Image from Sephora Site
I chose this due to the unique top of this perfume. The lovely gold honey comb really brings to mind hazy summer days and meadows. It's also why I chose this particular scent from the line, as Sephora describes it as:
"Herba Fresca is like a barefoot stroll on a summer morning through a garden wet with dew, the scent of fresh cut grass filling the air with each step. A touch of mint, a sparkle of citrus, and a tingle of wild flowers, Herba Fresca evokes a feeling of pure freshness in direct contact with nature."
Sounds lovely to me! This retails for $58 USD, and holds 2.5 oz of liquid.

Second is: Mac's Naked Honey Hi-Light Powders in Honey Light (lighter shade) and Golden Nectar
Google Images
*drool* These beautiful shades came out in a previous limited edition Mac collection, but they are still lovely to look at! In a warm golden brown and a beige both colours came with a honey comb pattern imprinted on them and a gold sparkly overspray. Both have a pearl-esque effect to them to create a subtle shimmer/ highlight when worn. Honestly these pictures make me want to smell it, in hopes it is scented like beeswax!  Heres some more pictures.
Honey comb on honey comb lol! Here you can see the true colour of the powder without overspray in the centre.
The Mac image, showing both powders without overspray.

When they were released these powders retailed at $29.50 CND, and holds 10 grams of product. I think the lighter of the two would work for all skin tones, and the darker, would be great for medium to darker tones as a bronzer or contour shade.

So, what do you think Honey? (Sorry I couldn't resist the pun! :P)

Just Because It's Pretty

I'm lazily posting another one of these, because it's fun and I am working on another couple posts slowly while I work on my seminar project for my upcoming field course. Hope you enjoy!

Here's a recap: I've decided to start a new series of posts called "Just Because It's Pretty". These are products (from as usual, non-animal testing brands), that are especially lovely to gaze upon. Whether it's the pattern of the powder or the packaging! These are not reviews, but instead just products that are tempting due to looks alone. Tell me some of your favourite beauty items that you like to have out to decorate!

Today: Art Deco Bronzing Compact Art Design 10 (in Safari Sunset and Safari Sunrise)

From The Smell of Vanity Blog

Art Deco has made a beautifully designed intricate (both inside and out!) bronzing duo that comes in two shades. One shade is slightly cooler and the other warmer. I particularity adore how they combined two animal prints (giraffe and tiger) with some fern leaves to give a jungle sort of feel to it.
This was released this year (and this season if I'm not mistaken) and also has a SPF of 15. It has a light matte finish.
The powder also contains two special ingredients, the first "Inca oil" they describe as coming from nuts in the mountains of Peru (fancy dancy) which they state contain fatty acids that nourish the skin and also help it retain moisture.
The second spiffy ingredient is extract of peas (really? Peas? If you say so.) which they say helps restore collagen structure in the skin. Honestly, I had no idea peas even contained Vitamin C which is what collagen is made out of. This compact is available for 19 Euros from the Art Deco website (and hard to get a hold of in North America). It really does look chic though doesn't it? What do you think?

Today: Chantecaille La Baleine Set
When I first saw these, my jaw dropped. These are so stunning, and beautifully detailed they almost make me cry (I love whales, they seem to move me emotionally). These are in the two colours shown, Bleue for eyes, and Blanche for face.

Chantecaille describes the Blanche as: a beautifully soft, highlighting powder that perfectly adheres to the skin. Microscopic pearls produce a fine, brilliant finish that is delivered in three delicate shades--warm gold, pink nude and sheer ivory. Blended together, they create a nude, luminous, and slightly shimmery face. This fine, creamy formula glides on effortlessly and is packed with healing, age-defying botanicals.

and Bleue as: a soft, feminine trio of up-to-the-minute, marine-inspired eyeshades. Two highlight blues--a sheer pale blue and deep blue-grey accent--combine with a beautiful, iridescent champagne base. Together the collection is shimmery, chic and subtly sexy.

The whale pictured is a Blue whale with her calf, and sales from the set of two, or each individually benefit the International Union for Conservation of Nature. This charity works to protect the oceans of the world. The set costs $156 USD with each compact holding 0.35 oz of product. The colours of the powder are solid all the way through. If I was rich enough to afford this, I don't know if I'd have the heart to actually use it! (And I'd totally get the Bleue one! *drool*) This product is a complete and total heart thief, because I've fallen in love. What do you think?

Today: Too Faced Leopard Love Complexion Kit
(Image from Sephora's website)

This trio of Leopard print rosettes is just so adorable! In peach, candy and golden these are two bronzers and a blush. I believe the palette is limited edition, and you can get it at Sephora or on the Too Faced website for $30 USD. Each pan holds 0.08 oz of product and the pattern does continue on down through the powder.
