Sephora Smoky Waterproof Cream Liners Swatches

Recently during one of my trips to Sephora I noticed that they had a variety of cream liner pots and so I took the opportunity to swatch them. I was actually impressed with my limited exposure to their formula- a fairly dry cream that seemed to set and stay well (took a quite a bit of scrubbing to get them off! Especially the black). Some of these are more of a matte finish while others have a beautiful shimmer to them.

There are eight shades, I've listed them, their finishes and their names below. :D

• Statue Bronze, a shimmery true bronze shade
• Grass is Greener, a shimmery dark slightly olive grass green

• Bewitch Me, an amazing shimmery red plum (with red shimmer!)

I apologize that the swatches aren't the best and the pictures are a bit off- not only was I in a rush, I didn't start swatching expecting to actually photograph these for you guys. In the end I decided that these were too good and intense to pass up. In Canada they cost $13 dollars, but in the USA they'll be less. I was really tempted to get Bewitch Me, as it would totally be a colour to bring out green in anyones eyes. I also love the shimmer in it! If I get one I'll certainly do a review.

Joe Fresh Liquid Liner Pen~ Review

Lately, on a quick run in to the grocery store I spotted Joe Fresh's Liquid Liner Pen, a felt tip thin black liner. This Pen was only $6 so I thought I'd give it a try as I like other Joe Fresh products and I've been wanting to try a liquid felt-tip liner pen for a while. There were a couple other shades such as a light brown and a dark olive green but I chose basic black for a fifties sort of look. I was hoping to create a cat eye.

One of the best things about this liner is the felt-tip. It's got a really fine tip so I can easily do a thin line along my lashes. The sort of matte area of the plastic makes the pen easy to grip and it's not too difficult to create a bolder line as well. I was a little worried the liquid wouldn't reach all the way to the very tip of the felt end but it did. Yay.

Now for the bad news. First up is that this needs to be stored horizontally, which is a pain, though one I could live with if not for this liner's other faults. Though the pigmentation isn't bad, it isn't the blackest black out there, but again, I could live with this. 

The main issue I have with this product is the lasting power. It has very little. It never fully 'set' meaning when I rubbed my eye a little later it came off some on my finger. Also, by the end of the day this liner was completely gone on my one eye and only faintly visible on my other eye. It didn't fade evenly and instead of disappearing, it instead migrated to my already dark under eye circles. Can anyone say major transfer issues?! I didn't even leave the house yesterday when I tried this liner! Sheesh! I suppose it may last longer with a primer underneath but I don't really like pushing primer up that close to my lash line, plus if my eyes watered at all (as they like to do, especially during allergy season) I have a feeling this liner would be a lost cause. 

On top of this, the liner only hold 1 ml of product. What a pathetically small amount! 

Sprite Rating: 2/10- The only good thing is the low price tag and the fact the felt-tip liner is decent.

Would I buy this again? NO! Not worth even the $6 CND. I want my makeup to last!

Stila New Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner~ Swatches

Just a quick swatch post for you all. These are the two new Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner. These have a felt tip application method with a hard plastic case, and cost $20 USD.

There are two shades, a navy and a dark brown. I found even after I shook the pens I really needed to press to get any liquid to come down and that these didn't really apply all that well as can be seen above in the patchy application. I was hoping for a felt-tip with a really easy to apply thin line, but I'm obviously still on the hunt. Are there any pen felt-tip liquid liners you really like? Let me know!

Wet n' Wild Mega Eyes Cream Liner in Eggplant

It's a snow day here at my university so I'm taking advantage of the break and trying to catch up on blogging! A little while ago I bought the Wet n' Wild Mega Eyes Cream liner in Eggplant a dark purple shade. It comes in the above UFO shaped container and cost around $7 CND. 

It also comes with an angled brush which is too thick to use for eyeliner in my opinion but may work out for an eyebrow brush. This liner really does hit all the marks of a good gel/cream liner in my opinion. 

It's smooth and creamy, pigmented and stays put all day long. In fact I put it on my hand in varying intensities and the thickest swatch lasted 3 days. And considering I did dishes and was also in lab for some of that time this is seriously impressive! 

Another good thing about the product is the packaging. It looks weird in that the lid is on the bottom but this is actually a good thing as I need to store all my other cream and gel products upside down to keep them creamy otherwise they'll dry out. 

One dip of the brush through the gel and wiping until I ran out of product on the brush.

What else is nice about this product? Because the purple is so dark it doesn't look outrageous on like a blue liner would. This is work-friendly! It also has really lovely violet shimmer in the sunlight (Click the photo below to see the large version and the shimmer). 

If you're worried about removal don't be, it came off completely and easily with some waterproof make-up remover.

Overall Rating: 8/10- Lost points for the fact it could be a bit more pigmented (I had to slightly touch up one of my eye lines after application) and the price is expensive for wet n' wild (though the quality is on par with my Mac fluidliner). 

Would I buy again? Yes. Overall I'm happy with the product and the wear as well as the look and packaging. A good buy, especially for a drugstore liner, wish they had more shades!

Urban Decay New Palettes!

Urban Decay is releasing 3 new palettes soon, The Dangerous Palette (with an awesome snake on the front), The Fun Palette and The Feminine Palette. Here are some of the sneak peak pictures Urban Decay just released!

First up is The Dangerous Palette that has six shades and a liner. I don't have the names yet but the shades are a turquoise shimmer, a mossy green shimmer, a matte beige, a shimmery gunmetal grey, shimmery dark plum and a black. NOTE that the finishes are my best guesses so they may be different than what I've stated here and in the rest of the palettes!

Even less information available about this one, though the skulls, chains and strawberries pattern on the packaging is one I've never seen anything remotely like before. Inside in the same set up as The Dangerous Palette with 6 shadows and a pencil liner is a shimmery strawberry pink, a midtone brown shimmer (possibly Smog) and a glittery silver white (possibly Uzi). No clue for the other shades though, sorry!

Last but not least is the Feminine palette starring purples, silvers and feathers.

Included in this palette is the neutral midtone brown shimmer Stray Dog, the light pink shimmer SWF, the beige-pink shimmery glitter shade Midnight Cowboy, light shimmery Turquoise Aquarius, dark shimmery brown Darkhorse and shimmery purple with a subtle pink reflect Ecstasy. Also included is the Zero 24/7 pencil liner (black).

What do you think? Any of these strike your fancy? I personally love the themes and details on them, even the fun palette though it's not to my taste.

Mac Fluidline in Rich Ground~ Review

Everyone always talks about the Mac Fluidlines. And with good reason! I love my little pot of Fluidline in Rich Ground. A reddened chocolate this is my absolute favourite liner to bring out the green in my hazel eyes (a hard feat to accomplish). 

These pots, though small really pack a bang for your buck. Creamy and richly pigmented, not very much is needed for the desired effect. I find the gel liners the easiest to control and can produce the smoothest line for me with my brush of choice (no included).

What I really love about these is that these literally do not budge once they set. I can literally rub hard on my eyes (which happens more than it doesn't when you're cursed with allergies) and it won't smear or fade. I still have the lovely metallic brown-red glow until I take it off at night. This stuff even lasts all day on my waterline with my very watery eyes.

This was only one small dip of my brush in the liner and look haw much I got!

Clicking above will bring you to the Mac website with all the fluidline colour options. Most people's favourite is blacktrack, obviously a black liner, but seeing as I don't use black liner I've never been tempted by it.

One thing to keep in mind is that fluidline twist caps must be secured tightly otherwise they'll dry out as it's their ability to dry when spread that keeps them from smudging. So after every use close the cap tightly and store it upside down. By storing it upside down you are keeping the moisture in the product as any that evaporates will evaporate into the gel itself instead of into the air and escaping. As I've stored mine upside down I've never had any problems with it drying out and I've had it for about a year now. If it does get a bit dry, I've heard putting a couple drops of Visine on it and then closing and storing upside down helps a lot.

Overall Rating: 10/10 I've not found a liner that stays as well, doesn't irritate, brings out my eyes and doesn't smudge yet!

 The eyeshadows from this collection are really unique. Not only do they have a Tartan pattern imprinted into them the coloured stripes in the shadow go all the way through the shadow. According to British Beauty Blogger, these coloured stripes are made with a patented flocking process using pre-dyed nylon threads which are then laid into patterns, in this case Tartan. Supposably this is the first time this has been done in the beauty industry, and I'm curious as to how this will work in reality. Will the stripes give off colour, or just look pretty? (I'm personally okay with either though extra colour would be a bonus :D)
