Tartan Tale Swatches

Much much sooner than anticipated I've got the first swatches for you for the Mac Tartan Tale collection! As well as a new model photo, and her look. This holiday collection will be released in two parts, the first part (as defined in my previous Tartan Tale post) will be out in stores in the USA and Canada October 28th and the second part November 4th. For the rest of the world, I've been told the release is November for the first half, and December for the second. I want to give a HUGE thank-you to erine1881 on Specktra for providing these, and the time you took to get them. Thank-you!
First up, and skipping over my rambling, is what you've been waiting for. Swatches. :D

The Lipsticks:
 The Dazzleglass Creams:
 The Tartan Print Eyeshadows:
 The Peralglide eyeliners:

 The Blushes:

Note, of course that colours on everyone's computer screens differ slightly and these are pictures of swatches so in real life they may appear slightly differently but that is true of all swatches seen online. I can't wait to see these in real life! I'm particularly excited for My Highland Honey Blush, The Family Crest pigment, Glamora Castle, Semi-Precious, Enviably Fun, and Golden Crown eyeshadows, and Courting Lilac lipstick. What is everyone liking the looks of so far based on the swatches?
erine1881 tells me that the eyeshadows are really silky-creamy soft (but powder, not an actual cream!) and that the Courting Lilac lipstick will be different on everyone as it's a glaze and therefore sheer and subject to change depending on how pigmented your natural lips are.

The Model Look breakdown: Another fascinating red-head in Tartan, what can I say she pulls on my heart strings!

  • Brows-> Eyeshadow in Brule to fill in slightly, Clear Brow Set
  • Eye highlight-> Vanilla Eyeshadow
  • Eye lid-> Golden Crown Tartan Print Eyeshadow
  • Eye crease-> Glamora Castle Tartan Print Eyeshadow
  • Upper Eye Liner-> Rapidblack Penultimate Eye Liner
  • Lower Eye Liner-> Fascinating Eye Kohl
  • Cheek-> Her Blooming Cheek Blush
  • Lip Liner-> Subculture Lip Pencil
  • Lipstick-> Cut a Caper Lipstick
  • Lipgloss-> Soft Dazzle Dazzleglass Cream
Here's some pictures of other permanent items mentioned that were used in her look.

That's it for now! As it is 12:30 a.m. here, I feel the need to sleep so I can study for my upcoming midterm and finish a paper due next week. Please PLEASE spare the time to vote in the poll! Even if this is your first time on the blog just vote for the type of post you came to visit. I want this place to be as useful as possible for everyone! Thanks for reading!

Tartan Tale Update

Update! I was going to wait a couple more days to see if any more information was going to come in but I figured everyone would probably appreciate the information sooner rather than later. As you can see above, we've finally got a model picture for the collection and isn't she stunning?! I love her porcelain skin and flushed cheeks! I've got her make-up look breakdown for you so if you're interested you can wear it too.

  • Black Mascara (Most likely Zoomlash)
  • Neutral matte eyeshadow, one that matches your skin, or one a half shade darker- it shouldn't be noticable. I personally like Revlon Vintage Lace, Wet n' Wild Brule and Stila has a bunch of great matte skintone shades
  • Golden Bronzer (applied first)
  • Her Blooming Cheek Mac Blush (applied on top of the bronzer) (See last Tartan Tale post for other Mac blushes that are close to this shade you could easily switch and use instead)
  • Lips are the most complicated of her look. She's wearing Beet lip liner, Full Fuschia Amplified Cream lipstick, and Soft Dazzle Dazzleglass Cream lip gloss (most likely on the centre of the lip only for highlight)

I love this shot, just because you can finally get an idea of what the colours actually are like! For example how dark of a taupe Style Clan nail polish is, and the wonder of the purple lippies! I tried to make this bigger but it's hard to manage without losing the quality of the image, sorry!

The Brush kits have been added, so if you want a brush set in a cute tartan bag for winter here are some interesting options (NOTE: All are animal hair brushes! Personally I only buy synthetic brushes, but these are part of the collection.)

All Kits are $49.50 USD (to see the shape of the brushes check out the Mac website, the numbers specify brush types and shapes)

Kids helping Kids Tags and Cards
A nice thing about Mac is they are pretty good at giving back, and this holiday season they're doing it again. They have a Viva Glam Tartan bag with Viva Glam V lipstick and lipgloss for $36 USD. The Viva Glam series goes to an AIDS foundation. They've also got Kids Helping Kids charity items, adorable tartan themed gift tags and cards. 6 cards and 12 tags are $8.00 USD. There is also Sir Teddy, an adorable tartan print teddy bear in two sizes (one of which has a key chain attachment). Large Sir Teddy is $15 USD and key chain Sir Teddy is $13 USD.

The more I find out about this collection the more interested I get! Hopefully there will start being swatches next week, but I unfortunately can't promise anything, but stay tuned!

P.S. PLEASE vote in the poll in the bar on the right! I'm trying to improve this blog so it is more helpful to YOU and the more votes I get the easier a time I have on choosing which things I should focus on for posts. Also, if you want updates through either your facebook or google account become a follower. If there is an easier way you'd like updates, e-mail me and let me know and I'll add it. Have a great day!

True Blood- A look at Pam's Cosmetics

I Don't know about anyone else but I love the Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris; the original author of the hit show True Blood. For those of you who don't know who is in the above picture, that's Pam, a snarky vampire with a love of twinsets in pastels and designer fashion. This still is from the third season and I just loved how in character this shot was with her personality. And for anyone wondering, the lipstick pencil she's using is NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil most likely in Damned, a deep magenta berry colour. (However, the NARS facebook page says that it's Cruella, which to me is a different colour- but really they are both nice :D). I saw this product in store at Sephora quite a while ago and the lemming has yet to pass on, a lovely creamy texture with excellent staying power, it's $24 USD. For those of you who aren't as vampy in your make-up there are many other shades available. Anyone else like these? Or are you interested in a full makeup look from one of the True Blood series? Leave a comment and let me know!
