Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer Review

Face Concealer by Make Up For Ever at ShopStyle

Though I don't have a full tube of this product I have been using a sample of it from Sephora for a little under a year now. Make Up For Ever is a brand that is big on making products for High Definition video and this is one of those. Full Cover is supposed to be waterproof as well as being highly pigmented.
Dab of Full Cover Concealer #2
Full Cover Concealer #2 blended

Personally I do like this concealer. I like that it's a very thick cream consistency that even when heavily blended doesn't lose all of it's pigmentation. It doesn't lose it's creaminess over time either which is a bonus. I also really like the fact that MUFE has made it buildable and that it works well under other make-up. I'm also fond of the fact that you hardly need any to get the coverage you desire. I find that this is the best concealer that I've found to date for covering pimples as it tends to stay were you place it and blend well while retaining colour, unlike creamier options (such as TheBalm TimeBalm concealer which I prefer for under-eyes). I've not had any acne issues from this concealer either which is always good too.

There are a couple of issues with this concealer though. It really needs a primer or moisturizer underneath it as I find it sinks into pores without one. Also although it is buildable it tends to look cakey rather quickly if you apply too much finishing powder. It's much too heavy and almost inflexible for the under-eye area in my opinion sinking into fine lines there very quickly. In addition to this it doesn't last all day on me, I wish it was longer lasting though I do get decent wear out of it.

The price of this is very steep for a relatively small amount of product which also is a shame. If you can try to get a large sample like mine to give it a thorough run-through and see if it's worth the hefty price tag for you. It costs $30 USD or $36 CND for 0.5 oz of product.

Sprite Rating: 6/10
Overall, although this concealer is a good one- one of the best I've been able to find I think it can still be improved. The wear, the price and the cakiness are all issues that I'd rather not have to deal with. However, it doesn't break me out and it is the best coverage concealer I've found to date that will actually stay on my pimples and conceal adequately.

Would I buy this? I might. It's better than anything else I've tried and the amount it conceals is great. Really depends on how desperate I am for concealer and whether or not I can get this on sale.

Awesome new things out for Spring!

Skin Care by Clinique at ShopStyle

This new release is the Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum. This has been getting raves already, so I'm super excited to find a sample of this to try! It's a pore minimizer that is supposed to show instant and work for long term results! The best of both worlds. However, it's expensive so I want to give it a try first- $39.50 USD for 1 oz. (Ouch!) It's also supposed to make the skin feel tighter/younger over time as well.

Lip Products by Too Faced at ShopStyle

This are new out too! Much like the Stila convertible colours these are Too Faced Full Bloom Lip and Cheek Colours! I adore the name as the colours really do resemble roses and other flowers out in force! It comes in three shades, I'll definitely have to swatch these soon! These hold 0.16 oz of product and are $21 USD.  There are a bunch of specialty ingredients in this including Vitamins, flower extracts and avocado!

Face Blush by Too Faced at ShopStyle

In three similar colours as the Full Bloom Lip and Cheek Colours, these powder blushes by Too Faced are called the Full Bloom Ultra Flush Blushes! Man what a mouthful! Supposably these blushes also contain an ingredient meant to help hydrate skin and improve the production of elastin (the stuff in you skin that prevents wrinkles). These are 0.14 oz for $19 USD.

Body Cleansers by Josie at ShopStyle

Josie Maran has just released a bunch of new items including a cleansing oil and this her Argan Oil Sun Protection in SPF 30. An all natural sunscreen with her signature Argan Oil ingredient in it. I'd like to try some of this to see how it compares to my favourite facial sunscreen. It's $24 USD for 4 oz of product. This is pretty much her sensitive skin version, she has another similar product out that is SPF 40 that is supposed to double as a primer as well. I'll have to see how that fares too!

Clarisonic has released some awesome new Clarisonic Mia models this spring as well! Look at the Jaguar or the fresh spring green! Or the Limited Edition Hope is Beautiful one that Clarisonic will give a donation to a charity towards helping cancer stricken women feel like themselves again. Yay! So much nicer colours than when I got my plain white one!

Eye Shadow by Urban Decay at ShopStyle

Urban Decay has finally switched over from their pretty but hard to use genie bottle Primer Potion packaging to a much more sanitary and efficient tube packaging! All four shades of Primer Potion are now available in the new squeeze tubes- Eden (matte yellowed nude), Greed (Shimmery Gold), Sin (Pink Shimmery Champagne), and the Original (Clear). Though, they have now gone up a dollar in price $19 USD. Though on the bright side they hold more going from 0.34 oz to 0.37 oz in size.
Urban Decay is releasing a bunch of other stuff soon, I'll let you know as soon as it's out! (New palette with new shades included and a Make-up bag included!)

Lipstick by Bite at ShopStyle

Recently an entire new line has been introduced to Sephora called Bite. It looks kind of Gothic at first glance but it's not vampire oriented despite first impressions! It's all about superfruit like pomegrantes that have antioxidants. All their products are chalk full of them and they look wonderfully pigmented too! Can't wait to actually try some of these in person! The packaging and images look so luxe!

Face Luminizer by Make Up For Ever at ShopStyle

And last but not least is the new Make Up For Ever Uplights, illuminizers in a ton (8) different shades for highlighting from pearly white to bright pink to golden copper in shade! I'm thinking if you liked the cream blushes MUFE released a while ago, you're going to like these too!

That's it for now! Hope you enjoyed looking at some of the awesome new products out and about!

Make Up Forever Aquarelle Swatches

Eye Shadow by Make Up For Ever at ShopStyle

From when these first came out I wondered what the heck they were. Little vials of pigment powder? A gel? Liquid? And what were they used for? I finally took the time to find out this weekend and here are the answers for you!

Aquarelle is a water based thick liquid paint-like substance for the face and body. Only the slightest amount is needed for pure powerful pigmented packed colour. Sephora only carries twelve of the 21 shades but the selection is still good and these are multi-possible-usage items too.
Eyes and Cheeks: 3 (Royal Blue), 6 (Apple Green)
Lips and Cheeks: 7 (Bright Primary Red), 8 (Safety Orange), 10 (Yellow-based Pink), 19 (Blue-based Pink)
Eyes, Lips and Cheeks: 1 (Black), 2 (White), 9 (Bright Primary Yellow), 11 (Violet/ Medium-Dark Purple), 15 (Metallic Gold) and 21(Pearly White)

The Colours my Sephora had-
Top Left to Right: 10, 8, 9
Bottom Left to Right: 3, 7, 11, 19, 15

Top row, Left to Right: 15 (Gold), 19 (Blue-based Pink),  9 (Yellow),  11 (Violet)
Bottom row, Left to Right: 8 (Orange), 7 (Red), 10 (Yellow-based Pink), 3 (Royal Blue)
I think these are best for make-up artists and fantasy artists as these are perfect for crazy stage make-up. I think they'd also make an interesting liquid liner for the eye but I'm not sold on these for everyday use. They are supremely pigmented though so they may make a nice lip colour but I didn't want to try it. My favourites out of the ones I saw were the Violet one (# 11), the Royal Blue one (# 3) and the Gold one (# 15). The gold truly looked like liquid metal on my hand so I was very impressed by that one, especially as it doesn't look gold when it's in the bottle. Open it up however, and you can see the jewel-like liquid inside.
Overall it's an interesting make-up item. Definitely more of a speciality item, even more so when you factor in one little bottle is $20 CND. What do you think? Are they pigmented enough to possibly have major use for you or are they just too strange for your wallet to feel the urge to spend.

Halloween Look! (and some extra Halloween items!)

Happy All Hallows Eve everyone!
One of my most favourite times of the year, when the veil between life and death thins and we dress up to confuse the demons who are up to no good! I've got my current vampy manicure, my make-up look for my costume, the pumpkins me and my mom did and the spiderweb cupcakes we made. Lots of spooky goodness in this post!

I painted my nails first with my base coat Gelous then two coats of Vampira by Eyeko. Then I took painters tape and taped across so only the tips showed and used Sephora OPI's Sample Sale for blood red tips on a very blood splattered and gothic looking nail design.
Showing the shimmer :D

Green slime and purple webbing blood splatter cupcakes! (Actually it's just buttercream icing and cherry chip cupcakes but they were fun to make!)
Here's my vampire look! My first time using false eyelashes I had to cut them in half to get them to stick on okay but overall I'm quite pleased.
My vampire teeth (I love these, no lisp and the look awesome!)
My vampire look :D (Some of the white eyeshadow has come off by this point but you get the idea). Here's what I used:
  • Annabelle matte eyeshadow single in Snowflake
  • Lorac oil-free illuminzer in pearl 01
  • Revlon dark red lipstain in Twilight
  • Mac Greasepaint stick in Greengrease
  • Wet n' Wild Holographic Silver glitter
  • Mac Vex eyeshadow
  • Gosh Waterproof eyeshadow cream stick in Love That Ivory
  • Kat Von D 500 point Sephora palette black sparkly eyeshadow
  • Fake Lashes from Life Brand
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Zero
  • Fyrinnae Lip Lustre in Ghostly Voice
  • Quo Eiffel Tower lip gloss in burgundy
  • Cargo Activating Primer
  • Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in number 2
  • Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer (forgot the number)

My Graveyard scene with the wind-blown tree branches!
And all lit up!
Mom's pumpkin topiary :D

Top lit up!
That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed, feel free to ask any questions.
