Butterfly Dress Wedding Look

The Butterfly Dress
Firstly, I want to apologize for the crumby photos in this post. The lighting sucked and I was in a hurry but I think you get the idea- plus I was really pleased on how it turned out. Enjoy.

Products I used
  • Fyrinnae Silica Gel Primer
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Shell
  • Physician's Formula Healthy Wear pressed powder foundation SPF 50 in Translucent Light
  • Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer in shade 02
  • Mac Kissable Lip Color in Flaunting It (worn for a bit so the intensity has died down in the photos)
  • TheBalm TimeBalm concealer in Lighter than Light
  • Blinc Tubing Mascara in Black
  • Fyrinnae Jade Ghost (inner corner and onto lid)
  • Fyrinnae Sakura (all over lid)
  • Fyrinnae Faerie Glamour (outer corner/crease)
  • NYC cream blush stick in Big Apple Blush

I also did a manicure and pedicure for this outfit. I used Eyeko Pastel Polish on my toes with OPI Breathe Life over top (this photo does NOT do it justice! So pretty and opalescent!). On my hands I had Color Club Fashion Addict polish a really dazzling holographic lilac shade. (Again photo does not do justice!)

Does any of your clothing inspire your make-up looks?

Ten Beauty Products I Can't Live Without!

Mascara by Blinc at ShopStyle

1. Blinc tubing Mascara in Black
I adore this mascara. It's the perfect easy to remove tubing mascara that doesn't smudge or run or flake. You can read my full Review Here. :D

Beauty Tools by clarisonic at ShopStyle

2. Clarisonic Mia
I can't live without my Clarisonic Mia. Although mine is the white one, if the purple had been available when I bought mine I would have chosen that colour! This helps my acne so much and it really helps clean deep into pores gently. My review on this is here :D.

Face Cleansers by Estee Lauder at ShopStyle

3. Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid Foundation (Shade Shell)
Although I've been using the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation lately, I finally got my hands on the Double Wear foundation in my correct shade. This foundation is great, matte finish, lasts all day and covers well. My review here!

Loose Powder by M·A·C at ShopStyle

4. Mac Prep and Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
This is my favourite setting powder. I've tried quite a few others such as MUFE HD and Laura Mercier's secret finishing powder but this is the best. It really gives a soft focus effect when I use it with my mini kabuki, blurring the look of my pores until they're almost gone. I've finally done a review for this here.

Eye Shadow by Too Faced at ShopStyle

5. Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my Holy Grail eyeshadow primer. It lasts all day for me and prevents creasing as well as feeling nice on and intensifying shadows a bit. Check out my review here!

Face Concealer by TheBalm at ShopStyle

6. TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer in Lighter than Light
The best undereye concealer I've tried this is creamy the perfect brightening shade and covers wonderfully. The only downside is that it doesn't work well over dry skin at all. I also like how inexpensive it is for the amount of product and how there is Vitamin E in it as well. Here's my review! :D

Nail Treatments by Ulta at ShopStyle

7. Nail Tek II Intensive Therapy
This stuff has saved my nails big time! From weak splitting nails that couldn't grow to strong healthy ones this as a base coat has transformed my nails. Another plus was that it was quick too! Read about my experience with it here!

Nail Polish by China Glaze at ShopStyle

8. China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat
I don't know about anyone else but I always always ALWAYS mess up my manicure before it dries unless I have a quick dry top coat and this one by China Glaze is the best! Really quick drying and I actually don't mind the sweet smell to it. As with all top coats it gets a bit thick after awhile but some polish thinner takes care of that. (Review to come)

Face Blush by NARS at ShopStyle

9. Nars Penny Lane Cream Blush
I just got this blush not too long ago and I adore it! I can't see myself without this anymore as it lasts all day (only blush I've had that does) and the finish is amazing! Check out my full review here!

Brushes & Applicators Sets by Ulta at ShopStyle

10. Eco Tools Brushes
The best brushes out there in my opinion. Cheap, Eco friendly, creulty-free, easy to clean, and super soft! There is nothing bad about these brushes except maybe the fact that the range is sort of limited! Full review of them here! The picture above is one of the sets of brushes I've bought and use almost daily.

So that's it! I saw this tag and thought it would be a good fun post to do. I have a couple other posts in the works so more coming soonish! Hope you enjoyed!

TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer~ Review

Face Concealer by TheBalm at ShopStyle

Recently I purchased TheBalm's TimeBalm concealer in lighter than light as an alternative for the Laura Mercier Secret Cover concealer sample I've been using for my undereye circles. The thing to know is that my undereye circles are super dark. As in I look like the walking dead or give the impression I'm an insomniac dark circles. Unfortunately, they're genetic and allergy related and no amount of sleep is going to make them better. I'm very acne-prone everywhere else on my face and so a creamy concealer isn't something I want to use anywhere but my undereye area, so this review only applies to the purpose I got it for, I haven't tried it on blemishes, or redness elsewhere on my face.
The little plastic pot comes with a sponge on top. The sponge was useless in my opinion and the packaging I'm worried about cracking from twisting too hard closed. So the packaging isn't good quality in my opinion. Certainly no where near the Laura Mercier.
The product itself though? So much better than the Laura Mercier! Though the product is drier than the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer, it's still creamy! TheBalm TimeBalm is more pigmented, has a more matte/skin-like finish, and doesn't crease! The Laura Mercier was alright for undereyes, I certainly liked it but after this I certainly won't go back, as the Laura Mercier had a tendency to crease every once in a while and didn't have as much coverage as I'd like. Plus TheBalm concealer blends into my skin seamlessly all the way up and into my eyelash line without causing my eye to sting or react at all. I do find that it works best warmed up on my finger whereas the Laura Mercier worked on fingers or with tools, but since I apply with my fingers this isn't an issue for me. I also like that this doesn't fade over the day, I still have coverage at the end of a long day. Though it isn't complete coverage, I would say it's a medium-full coverage. Personally I think this is good because taking away all the darkness would make you look a little unhuman.
Swatched on my finger (enough for one undereye)
Personally, I'm not convinced this has any anti-aging or anti-wrinkle properties. It might help moisturize a bit but past that, not convinced though I'm certainly not going to discount it. I look at it as a bonus or an extra, but not something that really is influencing my view of the product.
There are 6 shades in this concealer line. I think they all have a peachy undertone to them (which helps combat the dark circles). I'm Lighter than Light, the lightest shade but they also have Light, Light/Medium, Mid-Medium, Medium, and Medium-Dark. The amount contained is 0.25 oz. This costs a fairly decent $18 USD, which for how little you need is a good deal. Especially when you compare to the extravagant Laura Mercier price.

Overall Rating: 9/10- lost a point for crappy plastic packaging. But other than that I am so impressed by this product!

Dermstore Order has Arrived!

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, I just couldn't get any inspiration! Well that is until I got home and saw my Dermstore order had arrived. Yay! Above is my Too Faced eyeshadow in Teddy Bear and Heaven

Left to Right: Teddy Bear, Heaven
TheBalm Time Balm Concealer (I'm gonna be using it for under-eye circles) in Lighter than Light (which I think it hilarious).

I think it also has Vitamin E in it to help prevent aging somehow but to be honest I'm not really sure.

Dermstore also sent me a full size lip therapy thing. I know nothing about the company and only that this is supposed to plump and moisturize lips, help prevent environmental damage, and lip lines. Honestly it's clear and minty and tingly. Other than that no clue. I've put it on a few times and haven't noticed much.

Finally is the blinc mascara. It's a tubing mascara (in black) and I wanted to see how it compared to my favourite Clinique Lash Power tubing mascara. (Review to come!)
Blinc says they were the first to develop tubing mascara but I'm not sure if that's true of not. Can't wait to try it!

Anyone else get anything new lately you've been waiting for?

Sephora Friends and Family Event

For those of you who don't know, tomorrow is the beginning of Sephora's semi-annual Friends & Family sale. EDIT: IT'S STARTED! and goes until November 3rd. Everything online is 20% with the code FF2010. Be sure to get you ebates too for an extra 3.5% cash back. Unfortunately this is only available to Americans so unless you have an address or a friend in the states you can ship to us Canadians won't be able to participate.
(Psst, I've heard there may be a VIB coupon for 20% in a couple weeks, but it might just be a rumour)

Many people plan out their list before hand and place the items they want in their carts on the site so that they can checkout right away, as items tend to go out of stock rather quickly during this sale. People especially stock up on staples during the sale so be sure to get those first if you're going to take part!

For interests sake I've added 10 items available at Sephora. They are my potential list and some of my Sephora staples, or items I've recently purchased (but haven't recieved/tried out!), I've also added in some current lemmings of mine. (I have a relative that lives in the states so I ship to her so some of these may actually become a credit card indent :D)
(Clicking any and all images below will take you to the Sephora site)

1. Too Faced Shadow Insurance: Staple item- TFSI really prevents eyeshadow creasing and you don't need very much at all!

2. Murad Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel: A staple, and on my list. With salicylic acid I put this gel on daily to stop breakouts beneath my make-up

3. Nars Penny Lane Cream Blush: I really want this blush! A light brown-pink it's very neutral and pretty and with the cream to powder formula won't feel greasy on! (I may have to ask for it for christmas though as I'm running low on cash at the moment, thank goodness this is part of the permanent line!) (P.s. the picture does NOT show the Penny Lane shade unfortunately, but it does bring you to the Sephora page of NARS blushes. Sorry!) Click Here to go to Karla Sugar's blog swatches of some of the Nars cream blushes including Penny Lane and Cactus Flower (the shade shown below!)

4. Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Eye Contour Care SPF 30: I've heard great things about this sunscreen, but didn't want to pay full price! So this is the perfect time to try it. I believe it's important to put on sunscreen everyday to prevent signs of aging but I need something that sinks in completely with no residue or greasy feel left over. I use Neutrogena's Water Light sunscreen beneath my make-up most days now (click the link for my review), but I don't like it around my eye area as my eyes are super sensitive and sting with the Neutrogena one. I've hear this is wonderful though for that reason so I'm hopeful this will be the one for my eyes (as as eyes need sun protection the most in my opinion). Anyone tried it? If you have please leave me a comment at the bottom of the post, I'd love to hear your views!

5.  Sephora OPI nail polish in Only Gold For Me: List item! This polish I think would look great over a red or orange for a neat autumn inspired nail and will be perfect for the upcoming holiday season too. I may also snag Merry Me as well! :D

6. Blinc Kiss Me Mascara: List Item: I recently got it elsewhere but originally it was on the list! I love tubing mascara. My favourite is Clinique's Lash Power for it's unsmudgable nature, but I wanted to try another brand and cult favourite and see how it compared. Blinc's sees to be a winner from various accounts so I'm hoping it lives up to Lash Power's longevity!

7. Guerlain Ecrin 6 Couleur Eyeshadow Palette in Place Vendome: *Drool* This was on my lemming list a while ago and I still want it! Super expensive so 20% would certainly help out it will drop from the horrifying $84 USD to a frightful but not as much as before $67.20 USD. There are five different palettes total with different shades, they may be more your style if this one doesn't strike your fancy, but gah. So pretty! *Grabby fingers*

8. Too Faced Pixie Pin-Ups Palette: Can we say stunning! Six great shades and a TFSI makes me crave this. Such a good deal if you can get this during the sale (I have a feeling they're gonna run out of these quick!) Too Faced has some other great holiday kits out that are perfect for any season so be sure to check them out too.

9. TheBalm TimeBalm Anti-wrinkle Concealer: No idea about the anti-wrinkle ingredients but I've heard wonderful things about this concealer for undereye circles. If you suffer from dark bruise-like undereyes like I do you know the appeal of a pigmented, non creasing concealer. This concealer is said to be this way. I personally can't wait to try it because as much as I love Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer for this job Laura Mercier's is much four dollars more for less than half the amount of product. I'm hoping this is a winner!

10. Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer: Staple! i used this over the summer on my trip to Africa and this stuff rocks! It has the pigmentation of a sheer foundation, looks dewy and youthful on, doesn't cause me to breakout, and has an SPF of 20. The only downside is the price. I match Porcelain (the lightest shade) but there are ten shades in all and considering how easily this stuff blends I think these will cover most skin tones. (I swear I'll do a better review soon, I keep getting distracted by other flashier items!)

That's all folks! Well unless you endanger my bank balance by telling me all the things you're planning to pick up!
