Shopper's Drug Mart Holiday Special Gifts

I was just a Shopper's Drug Mart (SDM) the other day and they had a bunch of really neat holiday special items out on display. The Quo ones were great especially!
The two shadows by Quo on display
My favourite were the two Holiday palettes of eyeshadows. Though I'm betting they're overspray the detail work is so stunning in gold and of course the underlying colours are lovely looking too! These cost around $13 CND each if I remember correctly.

Isn't this awesome!? Magnetic travel brushes you just pull off and switch without having to bring the entirety of your brushes with you on vacation! All a lovely royal blue colour. I'm fairly sure they're all synthetic bristles but I'm not positive so check yourself at the store if you're interested and that's important to you. Cute and practical for $35 CND. And from previous Quo brushes I can say they are decent quality for sure.
Isn't this kit awesome!? Nail Dryer, Nail buffer/shaper, 9 nail polishes, hand and cuticle cream, and a couple nail brushes as well as a random white pencil. Overall for $20 CND an awesome deal if you're interested at all (though I know nothing about the company and their animal testing status- sorry!)

That's all the cosmetics for now but I saw a bunch of other cute holiday things so I felt I had to include them as well. Enjoy!
The Abominable Snowman and the Dentist Elf
Form the Classic Rudolph movie as a kid there was stuffed toys of a bunch of the characters so cute!
Rudolph and Clairice

Giant Rudolph and the Snowman Narrator

Adorable little Swarovski Crystal Reindeer (Not SDM)
Swarovski Crystal Stockings and Holly

Halloween Look! (and some extra Halloween items!)

Happy All Hallows Eve everyone!
One of my most favourite times of the year, when the veil between life and death thins and we dress up to confuse the demons who are up to no good! I've got my current vampy manicure, my make-up look for my costume, the pumpkins me and my mom did and the spiderweb cupcakes we made. Lots of spooky goodness in this post!

I painted my nails first with my base coat Gelous then two coats of Vampira by Eyeko. Then I took painters tape and taped across so only the tips showed and used Sephora OPI's Sample Sale for blood red tips on a very blood splattered and gothic looking nail design.
Showing the shimmer :D

Green slime and purple webbing blood splatter cupcakes! (Actually it's just buttercream icing and cherry chip cupcakes but they were fun to make!)
Here's my vampire look! My first time using false eyelashes I had to cut them in half to get them to stick on okay but overall I'm quite pleased.
My vampire teeth (I love these, no lisp and the look awesome!)
My vampire look :D (Some of the white eyeshadow has come off by this point but you get the idea). Here's what I used:
  • Annabelle matte eyeshadow single in Snowflake
  • Lorac oil-free illuminzer in pearl 01
  • Revlon dark red lipstain in Twilight
  • Mac Greasepaint stick in Greengrease
  • Wet n' Wild Holographic Silver glitter
  • Mac Vex eyeshadow
  • Gosh Waterproof eyeshadow cream stick in Love That Ivory
  • Kat Von D 500 point Sephora palette black sparkly eyeshadow
  • Fake Lashes from Life Brand
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Zero
  • Fyrinnae Lip Lustre in Ghostly Voice
  • Quo Eiffel Tower lip gloss in burgundy
  • Cargo Activating Primer
  • Laura Mercier Secret Concealer in number 2
  • Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer (forgot the number)

My Graveyard scene with the wind-blown tree branches!
And all lit up!
Mom's pumpkin topiary :D

Top lit up!
That's all for now! Hope you enjoyed, feel free to ask any questions.

Quo Jumbo Lipgloss Stick~ Review

Finally another review! Firstly though I want to apologize for the yellow background, I thought it would be neat but it just looks.... bright.
Today I'm reviewing Quo Jumbo Lipgloss Stick in Currant. For those of you in Canada, Quo is the Shopper's Drug Mart cosmetics line available in stores. Though this pencil is a bit expensive for drug store (like all Quo items) the quality on this is great. It costs around $12 CND. It's moisturizing, highly pigmented, non-sticky, easy to apply and wears better than the average gloss. It also has a subtle staining effect so if you happen to eat something and it gets rubbed off a hint of colour is still there.
The colour on this is lovely for autumn, a deep berry plum thats just a little vampy. The nice thing about this though is it's easy to sheer out so you only get a touch of colour instead of the full built up affect.
This has quite a strong scent, but I personally love it. It's black current and sweet, but does diffuse after about five minutes from application.
I also enjoy how easy this is to apply with the pencil packaging and how because it's slim it travels well (the cap is sturdy, it's not going to slide off on you! That is always my issue, or I've shoved it on too hard and it's started to crack. This does neither.) The only downsides to this is that you have to sharpen it and therefore waste product. I really wish this had a twist bottom so when it gets down you could just twist up more. It does sharpen without fuss though which is good, because it doesn't look like it would go well. This is due to the shiny sleek plastic finish on the outside of the stick. It looks much more high end than it is, which is a nice bonus.
Most accurate to real life colour
And not smiling :P
The lipgloss sticks come in six shades and have 2.5 grams of product per tube. Currant is the darkest of the shades but they also have a medium-dark red called Daiquiri, a light Peach called Nectar, a light pink (Pink Petal I believe), a bright pink (Lavish I think) and a spice brown (named Ginger Twist). I only have one but I love it! All in all great high colour glosses that look like they're from NARS (the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are very similar in design).

Sprite Rating: 9/10 - marked down only for limited availability and small shade selection.

FOTD: Simple Sophisticated Red

This is a really simple look I did the other day for classes. I think it gives a bit of personality without being overdone, and it's certainly work and uni appropriate. It also gives a nice flair of fall (yay! I love fall, it is by far my favourite season!)

Close up so you can see the blush and eye better.
Here's the products I used:
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation Intensity 01
  • NARS Face primer (the last remnants of my sample, so I didn't get full coverage)
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Revlon Vintage Lace (matte) eyeshadow
  • Stila Eden Eyeshadow (matte)
  • Clinique Lash Pwer Mascara in Black
  • The Body Shop Autumn Leaves Blush in Berry (metallic finish- highly pigmented so use sparingly!)
  • Mac Lipstain Marker in A Classic
  • Quo Eiffel tower lipgloss in Burgundy
  • Laura Mercier undercover concealer # 2
  • Mac Prep and Prime Finishing Powder

The idea was to have bright light neutral eyes that look awake without attracting attention. The blush I focused on being there ever so slightly (like you've been out in a crisp fall air), which works well with this particular blush from The Body Shop as it has an almost frost finish so it highlights the cheek bones as well. The red lips I put a stain beneath and a gloss on top in near shades of red (less work over time for me!) in a matching colour to my shirt. I love this gloss by Quo as it is the colour of a ruby on, really wonderful rich jewel tone. A very very similar colour that's out right now is the Art of Darkness Hermetic gloss by Illamasqua.

What do you think? Would you wear a similar look out and about? Let me know in the comments!

P.S. If you'd like to have an e-mail update option added to Hebridean Sprite Beauty please post so in the comments, or send me an e-mail. *hugs*

Face of the Night

Last night I attended the Medieval Times dinner show in Toronto, which is always fun to attend. However, the real point of this post is the makeup I did with this dress which appears black in the picture but is actually dark green with gold details based off a 14th century design.

This is a full face shot at the end of the night so my lipstick had worn off (a dark wine red) but you can get the general idea.

What Products I used:

Face->
Lorac Aquaprime Foundation Primer
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation Intensity 1.0
Mac Prep and Prime translucent powder
Mac Angel Blush
Too Faced By Candlelight Face Powder
Laura Mercier Secret Concealer 1
Clinique Clarifying Solutions Concealer

Lips->
Revlon Twice Bitten Lip Stain in Twilight with Balm (Deep ruby red)

Eyes->
Mac Greenstroke Paint Pot
Mac Fluidline in Rich Ground
Mac eyeshadow in Vex
Mac Chromographic Pencil in NC15/NW20
Clinique Lash Power Mascara

Brushes->
Ecotools mini Kabuki
Ecotools mini crease blender brush
Quo angled liner brush
Ecotools Mini Blush brush
Quo angled blush brush

Face
After applying my acne treatment and a moisturizer, I used a foundation paddle brush and spread Lorac's Aquaprime all over my face in a thin even layer (excluding lips and eye area). After waiting for it to dry I then took the same brush and evened my skin out with my Estee Lauder Double Wear Light foundation. I like to apply foundation before concealer because I feel that you use less product over all as you only need to cover the marks that the foundation doesn't. I then took my ring finger and patted Laura Mercier's Secret Concealer into my under eye circles and blended it out into the surrounding skin. I then took my Clinique Clarifying concealer and covered any other spots showing through.
Next using my Ecotools mini Kabuki brush I took Mac's Prep and Prime translucent powder and set everything on my face with it. I also swept it lightly over my eyelids as well. Using a blush brush I then lightly dusted on Mac's Angel blush along my cheek bones and apples of my cheeks (this is just a light baby pink coloured blush that is matte and easy to make look like a natural flush). Then using a flatter blush brush I took Too Faced's By Candlelight face powder and went over the blush on my cheek bones to very very subtly add a highlight.

Eyes
I started this look by applying a wash of Revlon's Matte Vintage Lace eyeshadow all over the lid and up to the brow bone to even out the discolouration on my lids. I then took Mac's Rich Ground Fluidline and lined the entirety of my upper lash line and the outer quarter of my bottom lashes to bring out my eyes. I then took the liner and put it along the outer three quarters of my waterline. I finished lining with Mac's NC15/NW20 chromographic pencil on the remainder of my waterline and underneath the liner on my lower lashes blended in to match the skin to create a very subtle brightening effect.
After lining, I took Mac's Greenstroke paint pot and using my finger lightly blended it all over my lid from the edge of the liner into the crease.  Then using Mac's Vex eyeshadow and a soft fluffy blending brush I lightly applied Vex starting from the tear duct up and around Greenstroke to the brow and over the crease.  I then finished off the look by brushing on a coat of Clinique's Lash Power Mascara (a tubing Mascara that comes off in tubes and actually keeps my mascara from smudging and flaking).

I then finished off the outfit by wearing dangling celtic earrings (not pictured sorry they were heavy so I took them off) and a necklace by the jewelry designer the Knotty Magpie (who's work is available in the Royal Ontario Museum).

Here's the whole look (minus the lips again I'm sorry!)
Hope you liked it! Tell me what you think or if you'd wear the makeup in the comments!

Quo Summer Safari Collection

Quo has recently released their new summer collection in Shopper's Drug Marts across Canada. Safari themed it's an instant eye catcher with three animal print velvet smooth bronzers, three eyeshadow trios, a golden pink shimmer highlight and a lip gloss in a chic black with gold giraffe print squeeze tube.
What really caught my eye where the three bronzers in Tigeress a lovely rose brown when mixed together but 4 different colours across. Mystic Morocco a more pink with brown and white tints in a Jaguar printand finally Sultry Sudan a giraffe printed bronzer that is varying shades of brown. The nice thing about these bronzers is that there is one for fair (Mystic Morocco), medium (Tigeress) and dark skin tones (Sultry Sudan) and the silver packaging in the animal print with rhinestones is adorable. All three are definitely worth checking out as the colours are not overspray but solid to the bottom of the pan. They each retail at $20 CND.
The three eyeshadow trios each have a blush and gold with rhinestone packaging. They also come in cute names like Egyptian Princess (A light gold and Rose Bronze and dark brown trio with a light almost white highlighter/blush). The other two trios are a Dark blue, lavender, and peach with a pale pink blush; and lastly a light blue, a turquoise and a teal with a medium rose pink blush.
Another item I may go back for is the Body Glow. It's a stunning pink with gold shimmer that comes in a huge container with a pump. The pump is a good one, allowing ease to get just the right amount (something I didn't get with my gold Clinique one nor my Lorac silver illuminator pumps). Here's a swatch! In real life it looks a tad more pink. If you pile it on it will dry down really bright so be sure to blend it in right away! The Body Glow retails for $25 CND. Though I love Quo's normal lipgloss, this one had no indication of colour and I personally can barely stand squeeze tube lipglosses so I didn't test out the colour. Shopper's Drug Mart also doesn't have any kleenexes available to wipe swatches off, and the employees were eyeballing me so I didn't swatch it, but it was $12 CND.
Overall I think the collection is really nice for summer, with a great exotic flair. What are your thoughts?
