Rescue Beauty Lounge Firebird Pre-Sale Collection

48 Hour V.I.P. Pre-Order
Starts Friday July 29th at 11am EST
Ends Sunday July 31st at 11am EST
This is a fantastic looking collection, I'm absolutely loving the story and the theme behind it. You can read all about it from Ji's view below. Enjoy!

"Finding a home away from home is not an easy feat, but my husband and I located ours in St. Barts. In the off-season, sans jetsetters, this is a serene island—pure paradise. Last August, we rented a villa and indulged in our outdoor grill obsession with a zesty appetite we lack at home. We cooked insouciantly, ran to the early morning local fish market, devoured our books, enjoyed leisurely swims, and walked the tranquil empty beach while watching the sunset.

During our last week on our own patch of azure, we drove to the supermarket for a routine shop, but something was in the air. There was a frantic energy that we had never before witnessed. I felt the scattered chaotic rhythms of energy throughout the island. The line at the gas station was alarmingly insane. There were speeding cars everywhere. The supermarket parking lot was overflowing and carts emerging from the store were fully loaded with cases of wine, cartons of cigarettes, wheels of cheese, and spears of baguettes. Indoors, the fracas continued and we were informed that Hurricane Earl was coming. We both said in unison, "Here?"

At that very moment, I envisioned scenes from CNN: boarded-up plywood, evacuations, and my husband and I clinging to the top of a roof somewhere. I am the epitome of a cowardly Manhattanite and my inner dramatic stage director’s heart started to beat to the rhythms of Igor Stravinsky's L'Oiseau de Feu (The Fire Bird). The opening of his riveting ballet has a hypnotic syncopation of unpredictable beats with the trilling of flutes and piccolos coupled with a chatter-like string section. The honking brass section mirrored the hysteria of this once peaceful island. I had to curb my dramatic imagination as our survival mode kicked in and we joined the fracas to shop like the French.

Once back at the villa, the owner greeted us with emergency necessities and instructions. Clearly, we were lucky to experience the hurricane in St.Barts because they are the hurricane specialists. All the metal gates in the villa were on a remote. We only had one exit door from the kitchen where the electricity was out. The wind started to howl irksomely, just like Stravinsky’s French horns and bassoons. Sheepishly, I peeked out the door and the beauty of the storm startled me.

I was mesmerized by the colors of a romantic and moody sky, the exotic rhythms of the wind, the nuance of different cadences as well as the unpredictable tempo of the raindrops. In my mind, a serenade by The Firebird kept me company. I stood for hours just absorbing the perpetual metamorphosis of colors that changed in the sky."

Lemming List!

It's been awhile since I've done a lemming list! These are things I'm currently lusting after, and might be of interest to you too, or if you already own it I'd love to hear what you think about it! It's lists like these that occur after hectic weeks like the one I just had!

1. Nubar Reclaim- Green Holographic polish (vegan too!)
Image from bynubar website
Green is my favourite colour and this one is awesome! What isn't there to like about grass green holographic polish? So beautiful, I just wish Nubar was easier to purchase here in Canada!

2. Chantecaille Turtle Eyeshadow Palette

Eye Shadow by Chantecaille at ShopStyle
A stunning eyeshadow palette and part of the proceeds go towards helping Sea Turtles! I love the colours too. Chantecaille has blow themselves away yet again!

3. BB Couture polish in Dragon's Breath
(Image from BB Couture site)
Dragon's Breath- Purple Glitter Jelly, Check out Varnish Vixen's Swatch here!

4. Rescue Beauty Lounge Polishes- Anne, Catherine of Aragon and Catherine Howard
Anne- Image from Rescue Beauty Lounge website

Catherine Howard- Image from Rescue Beauty Lounge

Catherine of Aragon- Image from Rescue Beauty Lounge Website
These were released by Rescue Beauty Lounge as part of the Real Housewives of Tudor Dynasty collection and I've fallen in love with all three of these expensive ladies! Look at the stunning shimmer though! *Drool*

5. Urban Decay Revolver Matte Eyeshadow
Urban Decay has decided to discontinue this! WHY!? I was just going to take the plunge and buy it and *wham* my Sephora doesn't carry it anymore and there isn't any left in stock! It's such a smooth, pigmented light grey with a matte finish! Do you know how difficult it is to find a matte light grey that doesn't run warm/brown?

6. Clarins Eye Contour SPF 30

Eyes Fine Lines & Wrinkles by Clarins at ShopStyle
I got a small sample of this a week or so ago and wow, is this a great product! Expensive, but you only need the littlest amount and it doesn't sting, irritate my eyes, or feel greasy! It absorbs in and actually primes my under eye area wonderfully, making my concealer go on nicer! I really want a full size of this.

7. BB Couture Nail Polish in Michael and Eve (Both from the Infamous Lovers collection)

A shout out to Mary at the Body and Soul Beauty Blog, thanks so much for the permission to use your photos, they're stunning! Definitely take the time to check her blog out, her polish swatches are fantastic! And aren't these two great? I love the murkiness of both of these, and the shimmer is great in them. These could satisfy my RBL craving from above. Or you know I could have all 5....

That's it for now! I'm sure I've missed somethings but I'll save them for next time! What do you think> Any of these items you're interested in too?

Rescue Beauty Lounge Polish of Dreams Semi-Finalists

That's right ladies and gents, Ji from Rescue Beauty Lounge has released her top 11 favourites from the many entries submitted for a polish of your dreams contest. See all 11 descriptions and vote for the next 48 hours only! HERE will take you to the page!!!!

Take note that the numbers are off in the blog post as one of the pictures interrupts the flow, so when you vote take note of the name of the person's idea that entered as that is what you'll be voting based on.

Personally I loved the succulent idea (followed closely by the Copper one and the Princess Leia Slave outfit idea). Which one are you voting for?

Rescue Beauty Lounge- Polish Colour of your Dreams

From RBL Blog
For those of you who don't know yet, Rescue Beauty Lounge owner Ji is hosting a contest where 3 lucky people will get to have their dream polish colour created into a Rescue Beauty Lounge polish! How cool is that?! You can check out the blog here, it has all the details but the contest is only open for 48 hours, starting noon today! I've submitted my entry and though it is unlikely I will win I'd sure like to! Here's the image I chose to show my inspiration:

His Website here
For those of you who don't know, these are the Callanish Standing Stones. Over 5000 years old these are on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. One of the most amazing places on Earth in my opinion. Here's my description for my entry, tell me what you think! Would it be a colour you'd wear? What types of colours would you choose if you got to pick any colour in the world for a polish?

My perfect nail colour is taken right from the Hebrides of Scotland the Callanish Standing stones. I would love a colour that is mainly a light grey like the stones themselves but has a reflect of mossy green like the grass that grows beneath the stones and the moss that grows on them. Slight flecks of purple like the heather that grows nearby and the variance in the rocks themselves would be the finishing touch. A colour that would truly reflect one of the most amazing places I've ever been.

In other news, I apologize for being AWOL. I've been really ill and my new semester at school has started leading me to the land of stress and doom. Hopefully I'll be back in full blogging action again soon!

Zoya Buy One Get One Deal

If you live in the United States, Zoya has a great deal for you this week! Buy one get one free for up to five polishes! This week only (November 1st to November 5th), using the code BOGO5 at the Zoya official website. I am so jealous at the moment.

Also don't forget! Rescue Beauty Lounge has their very last 50% off sale on right now! It's only for a couple hours today so get your buts over there and use the code FIFTYOFF. You'll still have to pay for shipping though, and full price on the Tudor collection.

Dermastore Codes

I just placed a Dermstore order today and it was completely worth it with the code!
Here's what I ordered:
Too Faced Teddy Bear/ Heaven Eyeshadow Duo
TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer in Lighter than Light
Blinc Mascara in Black

CODE: SENSADS ($25 dollars off of a total over $50)
Free shipping in the United States (About $6.00 to Canada)
and Ebates has 7.5% cash back for the store right now

So instead of paying around $60 I paid around $40. Whoot!
Another great code is ot2wk for 15% off, your order but unfortunately you can only use one code at checkout.

Anything you can get at Sephora though might be worth waiting for as October 22nd is the guesstimate on the Friend and Family Sale. That means with the coming code (through e-mail if you've signed up for their e-mail) you'll get 20% off just about everything on the website. And DON'T FORGET YOUR EBATES! As they are currently at 4% cash back but will probably go up during the F & F sale so you can save even more.

For those of you who like Rescue Beauty Lounge Nail Polish the last 50% off sale is coming up this November 1st from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Sadly, you still have to pay for shipping and the House Wives of the Tudor Dynasty are not included in the sale. Because of this and the expensive shipping charges, not to mention the expensive polishes themselves I won't be getting anything from this sale. However if you want to try out the polishes this would be the time to do it! You MUST be signed up for the RBL newsletter to be eligible for the sale though, so don't forget to do that if you are interested!

Happy Shopping!
